Kent Rose Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Established at
Big Sandy Community & Technical Colleg

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) President/CEO Dr. Sherry Zylka finalized an agreement on February 8, 2018 with the Kent Rose Foundation, Inc. to establish the Kent Rose Foundation, Inc. Scholarship.

Kent Rose, a Prestonsburg native, passed away from lung cancer in 2016. The Kent Rose Foundation, Inc. was later established by his wife Gina Rose. The foundation is carrying on Kent’s vision of helping students achieve their goals by providing community college scholarships.

“We are overwhelmed with emotion today as we sign the agreement with Dr. Zylka in partnering with Big Sandy Community & Technical College to establish the Kent Rose Foundation Automotive Technology Scholarship. This scholarship has been years in the making.” said Rose. “We are so thankful for the support we have had on the journey here and look forward to continued growth as, together, we change lives.”

The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming high school student pursuing an Associate of Science degree in Automotive Technology that has demonstrated the need for financial assistance. The scholarship can be renewed for a second year if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. BSCTC is accepting Scholarship Applications now through April 1st.

“We are thankful for our community partners like the Kent Rose Foundation, Inc. who continue to help us provide educational opportunities to students in our area who may not have had them otherwise.” said Dr. Zylka.

Fundraiser Launched for the Kent Rose Foundation Automotive Technology Scholarship Honoring Jack Vanover

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. 5/20/18 – The Kent Rose Foundation is partnering with the Family of Drag Racing Legend Jack Vanover to establish the KRF Auto Tech Scholarship Honoring Jack Vanover,
who passed unexpectedly in 2016. Kent Rose passed later that year from Lung Cancer and the Kent Rose Foundation was started soon after. Kent and Jack were close friends for many years and were both heavily involved in drag racing and have left an irreplaceable void in the drag racing community. It is the hope of the Foundation along with the family of Jack Vanover that the Scholarship can serve as a way to remember Jack and provide hope and encouragement to a young man or woman to do something with their life, thereby changing the lives of their families and future generations. Fundraising is starting now and will continue for the next several months. Donations can be made by clicking the Red "Donate Here" Box on the promo image, or by clicking here. We hope you will join us and donate to this worthy cause.

It's all about the KIDZ...!

The Kent Rose Foundation Scholarship Project is in full swing. The Foundation is currently working with vocational schools, training facilities and local community colleges to establish scholarship programs for children who would not otherwise be able to attend a traditional four-year college. As part of the scholarship program, we are working with employers to find internship and employment opportunities for scholarship recipients. The goal of the Foundation is to provide education and employment opportunities to kids who believe there is no opportunity for them and to give these kids a foundation upon which to build a future.

Please continue your support of Kent’s vision of helping Kidz by making a tax deductible donation.

Donations can be made by clicking the Donate button on this page, or by going to the Donate/Memberships Page. Annual memberships are available. Like and Follow Us on the Kent Rose Foundation Facebook page.
